Eastern Fisheries Inc. Boosts Productivity And Quality With New IQF Processing Line
Eastern Fisheries, Inc., today announced the completion of an IQF frozen scallop processing line installed by Skaginn, an industry leader in the design and manufacturing of food processing equipment.
“We are focused on quality which is why we selected Skaginn and this particular piece of processing equipment,” said Paul Joly, Vice President of Operations, Eastern Fisheries.
The capacity of the IQF freezer is 6,500 pounds of high quality scallops per hour. Other features include a raised freezing cabinet that will eliminate frost penetration into the foundation floor and a gentle infeed and special crust freezing belt that maximizes yield.
“We installed a new ammonia cascade system that interfaces well with Skaginn’s IQF design,” added Joly. “The line uses a dip and spray glazing system that maximizes shelf life and quality while offering the lowest possible processing costs, less than one cent per pound.”
